thanks for posting this - very interesting. I think the record companies are illustrative of the problems with capitalism in general - instead of focusing on making and selling goods and services, financial people are adding all sorts of layers and ways of making money onto already existing markets. These artificial profits strain the entire system until it breaks - and as we've seen recently - the whole house of cards can come falling down. Not to mention the record companies non-sensical strategy of making music hard to get rather than facilitating consumers acquiring their product (music) - which is what most businesses do. it's all crazy.
